ChatGPT is created by OpenAI, one of the best AI research companies in the world.
OpenAI was started by a group of people and one of them was Elon Musk who doesn’t need any introduction.
This group of people pledged 1 billion dollars to the organization.
Today the company employs more than 300 people and its flagship product, ChatGPT has taken the whole world by storm.
ChatGPT has a Plus version as well that comes with additional advantages which are discussed later in this article.
ChatGPT is a leader in the AI Chatbot industry, though we have quite a few alternatives to it such as Google Bard, Bing AI, Casper AI, Chatsonic, etc.
ChatGPT helps you with a variety of tasks such as resume writing, creating an outline for a blog article, and creating an e-book on literally any topic.
You can also ask ChatGPT to write you a piece of code in any programming language. It is a huge time saver for coders and software engineers.
The upgraded version ChatGPT-4 was launched a few months back and the ChatGPT 5 release date is going to be sometime in December 2023.
ChatGPT is currently used through a web browser only at the moment. There is no iOS or Android app available for ChatGPT yet.
But that doesn’t mean, it can not be used on mobile devices. The web version is pretty much usable on mobile devices.

ChatGPT is a generative AI chatbot that not only answers your questions, it learns from your responses, and with the help of data collected at the time of sign-up, it replies with more tailored and specific results to the users.

The ChatGPT is pre-trained on huge datasets making it a powerful AI tool in the world.

How to use ChatGPT
So by now, you know What is ChatGPT. In this section, I”ll discuss how to use ChatGPT, where to get started, and where to type your first prompt.
So before getting ready to use ChatGPT, you must create an account.
Creating a ChatGPT account is pretty simple and after the account is created, you can log in to your ChatGPT account and start using the tool.
Before creating an account, make sure you keep these things ready.
- Laptop with a reliable Internet connection and Chrome web browser installed (others can also be used, but I prefer Chrome).
- An email account or Gmail/Microsoft account.
- Phone number to verify your account.
Create ChatGPT Account
There are three ways you can create a ChatGPT account.
- With an Email address
- With Google Account
- With Microsoft Account.
For the sake of demonstration, I’ll use the first method. The other two methods are similar.

Step 1- Open the browser on your laptop.
Step 2- Type chat.openat.com.
Step 3- Click the “Sign Up” button.
Step 4- On the next page enter your best email and hit “continue”. Make sure the email account is active because you’ll be receiving a confirmation email on this email account.
Step 5- Enter the password and hit “Continue”. Make sure the password is 8 characters long and a mix of numbers, characters, and symbols.
Step 6- A confirmation email will be sent to your email address. Go to the inbox and open the email. Click the link in the email to confirm.
Verify your Phone number
After email verification, you’ll be taken to a screen asking to verify your phone number before getting ready.
- Select the country from the drop-down menu.
- Enter your phone number.
- Click the “Send Code” button.
- A verification code will arrive on your phone number.
- Enter the OTP & your ChatGPT account will be phone verified.
Login to ChatGPT account
To log in to your ChatGPT account, you follow the below steps:
- Open the web browser on your laptop.
- Type chat.openai.com
- Click “Log in“
- Enter your email and password and hit “Log in“
- You will be taken to the ChatGPT dashboard.
Type your queries
So now you are logged in. Type your queries and ChatGPT will start writing.
For example, in the below screenshot, I asked ChatGPT ‘benefits of chatgpt login’.
Here is the response.
This was just an example, the Chatbot can be used for various purposes.

Can I Use ChatGPT Without a Phone number
The straightforward answer is NO!
ChatGPT doesn’t allow any users to use ChatGPT without a phone number.
However, there are tricks that tech blogs share the methods to use ChatGPT without a phone number.
But, mind it, it is not ethical!
So if you really want to use ChatGPT, prepare your mind that a phone number is mandatorily given.
A phone number is used to send OTP to verify the account.
Unless you enter the OTP the process of phone verification will not be completed and hence the account will not be ready to be used.
What ChatGPT can be used for?
ChatGPT can be used for different purposes in different areas.
The students can use ChatGPT to get help with their school assignments.
The digital marketer can use ChatGPT to generate content, ideas, Ad headlines and descriptions, Blog post ideas, Email swipes, etc.
The coder or software developers can use ChatGPT to write pieces of code. ChatGPT can write programs in any programming language.
The online research firm can use ChatGPT to conduct research on any topic.
A job-seeker can use ChatGPT to write a nice and impressive resume.
How to use ChatGPT on iPhone
ChatGPT doesn’t have any Android or iOS apps. So if you want to use it on an iPhone, follow this process.
Step 1- Launch Safari Browser on your iPhone.
Step 2- Type chat.openai.com and hit enter. The login screen will appear.
Step 3- Click the “Log In” button.
Step 4- Enter your email (or use a Gmail/Microsoft account).
Step 5- Enter the password and hit “Continue“
Step 6– After login, the ChatGPT dashboard will appear along with a text to type your queries and generate responses.
(Update May 26, 2023): The ChatGPT has launched an iOS app for iPhone and iPad. So while the above method will work, it’s more convenient to install the app.
If you are an Android phone user, you probably have to wait for a little more because the ChatGPT Android app is not yet launched.
It has been confirmed by the developers that the Android app will be available soon.
What is ChatGPT Plus
ChatGPT is an advanced version of ChatGPT that has limitations removed and given first preference for the updates.
The ChatGPT Plus version costs $20/month and has the following advantages:
- ChatGPT Plus generates responses faster.
- ChatGPT Plus users are given preference for future updates.
- ChatGPT works normally even at peak hours. So you don’t experience any outrage unless there is some big problem.
Earlier, the ChatGPT Plus version used to cost $42/month but later the price was reduced to $20/month.
